Local Cathays Links

Connect Cathays:

The original Cathays website pioneered by the late Paul Byers (passed away in late 2016)  with a mission to highlight data for people to use across Cathays.

 

Cathays Compass:

This is the Cathays umbrella body which is responsible for the four quarterly events to coincide with the winter, spring, summer and autumn seasons. It has become a regular staple with events like Cathays Fair which usually hosts 40-60 stalls each year and attracts 1000’s of people from the locale.

 

Cathays Community Centre:

A long term established entity in Cathays, starting off as a roller coasting rink, bingo hall etc. and now hosts all types of events for ALL ages in the community (not just in Cathays – yet people come from all over Cardiff and South Wales!)

 

Cathays Library:

Our local library has become heavily involved with local activities including Reading Challenges, hosting the ‘Celebrating Cathays’ photography competition, being a regular stall at the yearly Cathays Fair and hosting part of the Cathays Xmas Community Carols each December!

 

Repair Cafe – Cathays:

Part of Repair Cafe Cardiff – the Cathays Repair Cafe happens on the first Saturday of each month – come and bring your things to get mended; usually held at Salvation Army Cathays on Fanny Street.

 

Your Cathays – Community Newsletter:

Your Cathays Newsletter was developed to get information out to the 1,300+ families/residential homes across Cathays. Keep Cathays Tidy events are reported upon the hard copy every 6 months to show everyone all the positive things we voluntarily undertake across Cathays.

Caerau & Ely Pickers:

Established in tbc.

The aim of Caerau & Ely Pickers is to improve the local environment and biodiversity. Caerau & Ely come from a proud heritage and we wish to look after our natural/built environment. We meet up on a monthly basis – everyone is welcome to join us!

Keep Adamsdown Tidy:

.Established in mid to late 2010’s

Keep Adamsdown Tidy hold regular litter picks to encourage the local families to Keep Adamsdown Tidy.

Keep Grangetown Tidy:

Established in January 2016 after a meeting at a local sports/community centre in Grangetown – a superb turn out of total strangers coming together proved this volunteer Tidy group was going to have great potential in the coming years.

Keep Riverside Tidy:

Established in February 2018

Keep Riverside Tidy are a group of local residents, business and others who promote pride and community spirit in Riverside through physical improvements to our local environment.

Keep Roath Tidy:

Established in February 2015 – Our weekly litter pick group meets at Albany Road Post Office every Saturday at 10:30!

The KRT volunteers regularly removes over 20 bags of litter from the our community and always welcomes new members. KRT also work on other projects such as our ‘Clean up, Green Up’ planter project that has helped residents bring plant life and colour  to Roath.

Roath is a great place to live … please get involved with the volunteering, meet your neighbours and help Keep Roath Tidy.

Keep Splott Tidy:

Established in August 2016

Keep Splott Tidy are a group of Splott residents passionate about where we live who get together on the last weekend of every month to litter-pick in our community.

Established in September 2016
